This is a practical checklist of what to bring to each appointment in the labiaplasty process at Dr Georgina Konrat's Bondi Junction practice. The requirements differ across the three main appointments — initial consultation, second consultation, and procedure day — so the checklist is broken down by appointment.

Initial Consultation

Required:

  • Your GP referral letter. This must be obtained before the appointment. Without it, the consultation cannot proceed (Australian cosmetic procedure regulations).
  • Photo ID (driver's licence or equivalent)
  • Your Medicare card

Recommended:

  • A list of your current medications, including over-the-counter and supplements
  • A list of any previous surgeries, with approximate dates
  • Any relevant family medical history
  • Any questions you have prepared. If you haven't prepared questions, that's fine — Dr Konrat will walk you through the information.

Useful but not required:

  • A notepad to take notes (Dr Konrat also provides written materials to take home)
  • Your partner or a support person, if you would like someone with you. The consultation itself is private with Dr Konrat alone, but a support person can wait in reception and you can call them in at any point.

The fee: The initial consultation fee is $165, payable on the day by card. It is credited toward the surgical fee if you proceed with the procedure.

Second Consultation

Required:

  • Photo ID (if you are new to reception staff since the initial visit)
  • Your Medicare card

Everything from the initial consultation is on file, so you do not need to re-bring the GP referral.

Recommended:

  • Any questions that have come up since the initial consultation
  • A notepad if you want to take notes on the personalised fee estimate
  • Your support person, if they would find it helpful to hear the plan and the quote

The second consultation is where Dr Konrat reviews the plan, confirms the surgical approach, and provides a written fee estimate. The fee estimate covers practitioner, anaesthetist, and facility fees as a complete package.

After the second consultation: A mandatory 7-day cooling-off period applies before any procedure can be scheduled. No deposit or booking is taken during this period.

Booking (After Cooling-Off)

Once the 7-day cooling-off period has passed, if you wish to proceed, you can call the practice to schedule the procedure date.

Required at booking:

  • Deposit payment (amount outlined in your fee estimate)

A specific procedure date will be confirmed with you. You will receive written pre-operative instructions in the days leading up to the procedure.

Procedure Day

Required:

  • Photo ID
  • Medicare card
  • Full payment for the balance of the surgical fee (unless already paid)
  • Your written pre-op instructions (if you want to refer to them)
  • A support person who can drive you home and stay with you on the first night. You will not be discharged without a support person present.
  • Comfortable, loose clothing for the journey home — particularly for the bottom half (loose pants, a skirt, or similar). Avoid tight clothing that puts pressure on the treatment area.

Recommended:

  • An overnight bag in case of delays
  • A phone charger
  • Reading material or headphones for the recovery period
  • A small snack for after the procedure (if you have been fasting)
  • A bottle of water

Personal items to have at home before the procedure:

  • Prescribed pain relief (dispensed by your pharmacy ahead of time if possible)
  • Loose, comfortable clothing for the first 1–2 weeks
  • A donut-shaped cushion, if you have one (helpful for sitting comfortably in the first few days)
  • Basic supplies: disposable pads, paracetamol, ice packs, clean bedding

What NOT to bring:

  • Jewellery or valuables (leave at home)
  • Nail polish on the finger being used for the pulse oximeter (clear is fine; opaque colours should be removed)
  • Perfume or heavy fragrance (consideration for theatre staff)
  • Makeup on the treatment area

Fasting Instructions

Fasting instructions depend on the anaesthetic approach and are provided in writing before the procedure. In general:

  • Local anaesthetic with sedation: usually fast for 4 hours from solid food, clear fluids allowed up to 2 hours before
  • General anaesthesia: fasting from solid food for 6 hours, clear fluids up to 2 hours before

Follow the specific instructions you are given — these are the general rules, not a substitute for the written pre-op information.

On the Day — Getting There

The practice is at Suite 402, Level 4, 59–75 Grafton Street, Bondi Junction. Nearest train: Bondi Junction (T4 Eastern Suburbs line, 5-minute walk). Parking: Westfield Bondi Junction car park. The building has lift access to Level 4.

If you are travelling from interstate, your support person should ideally be someone travelling with you who will stay for the first night. If that is not possible, the practice can suggest accommodation options near the clinic that are walking distance from the practice. See the travelling to Sydney page for logistics.

After the Procedure

You will receive written post-operative instructions before you leave. Follow-up appointments are scheduled at one week and six weeks.

Risks and Suitability

All surgical procedures carry risks including bleeding, infection, scarring, asymmetry, and altered sensation. Individual results may vary. A consultation is required to assess suitability. A GP referral is required before the initial consultation.

Booking

To book an initial consultation, see the Book Online page or call 02 9188 1949.
