Labiaplasty for Patients Travelling from the Gold Coast
Dr Georgina Konrat (MBBS, FACCSM) — Bondi Junction, Sydney
Practical information for women on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW considering labiaplasty and a trip to Sydney. A consultation is required to assess suitability.
The Gold Coast has a large population that sits comfortably within a short flight of Sydney, and a steady number of women from the region travel interstate each year to access practices focused on specific cosmetic procedures. For labiaplasty, that often means looking at Sydney, where Dr Georgina Konrat runs a dedicated practice in Bondi Junction.
This page walks through what a trip from the Gold Coast actually looks like — flights (or driving, for those with time), accommodation, timing around the cooling-off period, recovery logistics, and cost planning. Labiaplasty is not suitable for everyone and all surgical procedures carry risks. A consultation is required to assess suitability.

Why Patients Travel from the Gold Coast to Sydney
Gold Coast patients most commonly travel to Sydney to access a practice focused specifically on labiaplasty. Dr Konrat developed the DOVE Surgery Technique — Double Offset V-Plasty with Extended De-epithelialisation — and published it in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal in 2012 based on a series of 451 consecutive cases. It uses superficial dissection within the outer tissue layers, preserving the blood supply and nerve pathways underneath, and places the closure within the body of the labia rather than at the visible edge.
Some Gold Coast patients also find that a short trip interstate offers more privacy than staying in their home region. Individual results may vary.

Flights and Travel from the Gold Coast
Gold Coast to Sydney is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute flight. Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and Qantas operate daily services between Gold Coast Airport (OOL) in Coolangatta and Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD), with multiple departures per day across the business hours — Jetstar in particular runs a strong schedule on this route. Patients living further north in the Gold Coast or Brisbane fringe can also use Brisbane Airport (BNE) as an alternative with even more frequent services.
Driving from the Gold Coast to Sydney is technically possible at around 9 hours, but almost no patient chooses this for a surgical trip — flying is much simpler and avoids fatigue. From Sydney Airport, Bondi Junction is approximately 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or rideshare, or around 25 minutes by train via the Airport Line and T4 Eastern Suburbs Line.
Where to Stay in Bondi Junction
Bondi Junction offers a mix of accommodation within walking distance of the clinic. Options include international-branded hotels near Westfield Bondi Junction, serviced apartments that suit stays of several nights, and smaller guesthouses on the quieter streets around the precinct. Bondi Beach is a short bus or rideshare away for gentle outings during later recovery if cleared.
We do not recommend specific hotels by name. The right choice depends on budget, length of stay, and whether you are travelling with a support person. Prioritise a quiet room, a comfortable bed, lift access, and a short walk to the clinic.
Timing Your Trip
A 7-day cooling-off period applies after your consultation before any procedure can be scheduled. For Gold Coast patients, a two-trip approach is usually straightforward: a day trip for consultation, then a few nights in Sydney for the procedure and early recovery. Telehealth consultations may be possible in some circumstances — ask via the contact page.
A typical Gold Coast two-trip schedule: fly down in the morning, consultation in the afternoon, return the same evening. At least seven days later, arrive the day before surgery, day procedure, two or three further nights for initial recovery, clinic review, then home.
Recovery Considerations for Interstate Patients
Labiaplasty is a 60 to 90 minute day procedure under oral sedation or general anaesthetic, decided at consultation. Most patients take 1 to 2 weeks off work, with full activity typically resuming around 6 to 8 weeks. Flying back to the Gold Coast is usually possible 48 to 72 hours after surgery with clinical clearance. Dr Konrat will advise based on your individual recovery.
Managing recovery away from home needs a little planning: loose clothing, simple meals, a quiet room for the first 48 hours, and ideally a support person for surgery day and the first night. Once home on the Gold Coast, the clinic remains available by phone and email, and follow-up can often be arranged by telehealth. Any Queensland GP or emergency department can provide initial assessment if needed and liaise with Sydney. See the recovery page.
Costs for Travelling Patients
The consultation fee is $165. Surgical fees depend on the complexity of the procedure and are discussed at your consultation — full breakdown on the labiaplasty cost Sydney page. Travel costs are additional: flights, accommodation, ground transport. Labiaplasty for cosmetic reasons is not covered by Medicare.
